This is our charter according to the guildstone, and what is published for the UO community to read on our guildpage on the www.uo.com website. This document is intended to further describe and explain what we are about. We are a rogue band of mercenaries, seeking profit and ultimately dominion of Sosaria for our patron goddess Lolth.

BDA has been in existence for about 8 years, in various games.

Bregan D’Aerth-A Guild of Drow Roleplayers

We are a roleplaying guild. Our rp is based on the drow characters portrayed in the books by Salvatore. We strive at all times to have fun playing UO, and rp second. All candidates for membership should have read at least some of these books, so there is an understanding of our rp. We hunt monsters together. Dig up treasure maps together. We war other guilds together, in specific staged ways discussed later. We help each other build our characters. We share the bounty of our various activities. We strive to have fun in all that we do. Our rp is of an evil race of subterranean elves, but the players of these characters are cool people in real life. The distinction is clear, and must remain so.
Bregan D’Aerth-what we are not

BDA is not a pk guild. BDA is not a war guild. We are neither Chaos nor Order, and we do not currently participate in Factions. BDA does not grief play other players. Since we desire other players to respect our choice of gameplay, we respect those that choose to play differently. We do not condone certain gameplay styles, but we recognize that in the UO community there are those who choose to play in a manner that is aggressive towards other players and has nothing to do with rp. These players are just plain jerks, and we will not lower ourselves to their tactics on our BDA characters. We do not require our players to learn the drow language or use it. We do not have dues or uniforms. We do not trash talk vanquished enemies, and we do not loot them if it is part of an event. Players who choose to engage us outside of our rp context do so at their own risk. We do not back down from aggressors, nor do we run. Ever. Insurmountable odds or not, we stand and fight. Our dignity is worth much more than the belongings on our characters.

Bregan D’Aerth-Some Rules

BDA is not heavy into legislation. Here in no particular order are some guiding rules to know and play by. Some may sound harsh, but the reader should note the extreme rarity that any disciplinary action has ever had to be made on players in BDA. Much of it is common sense.

Your guild tag can be either visible or not, your choice.

Members are not permitted to resign off the stone for any reason. Exceptions are by the Jabbuk’s approval on a case by case basis. Repeatedly leaving the stone for trivial reasons will result in the player not being added back on, kicked from the guild.

Loyalty and courage in the face of danger are insisted on. Players that flee a battle, leaving their guildmates behind to die are considered cowards and have no place in our guild. BDA will stand by each other no matter the odds.

If you are in game, and summoned for assistance the member is expected to respond asap. Naturally, there will be times when this is not possible, but it should go to stand that if you are not involved in some unavoidable or escapable circumstance, that you make every effort to come to the aid of any guildmate. Repeated avoidance of responding to calls for assistance are an indicator of a lack of commitment on that member’s part, and can result in a review of their standing in BDA.

The hierarchy of decision-making power is the following:

The Jabbuk, Caleb: Final word in any and all matters. His orders are to be followed without question. Discussion over guild policies, decisions is encouraged at the appropriate time. Discord over a decision in the heat of the moment is unacceptable. Arguments in the presence of outsiders is not tolerable. If a player does not agree, they are encouraged to either speak directly to the Jabbuk, or post their issue on our private board. These conversations should never be public events. Disobedience to direct orders from the Jabbuk can result in dismissal from the guild. We have an open door policy, member input is what keeps the guild active and vital, there should be no obstacle to direct attention to any member’s concern.

Silvaria, AGM. Her power is identical to the Jabbuk’s. She was Jabbress prior to Caleb. A role she willing gave over to him. She is a founding member of BDA from 8 years ago. Failure to obey her is also grounds for dismissal. She has contributed so extensively to the guild, that to disrespect her in any way is akin to disrespecting all of BDA.

Blackened, AGM. Blackened has this role for the purpose of assisting the Jabbuk. In his absence, Blackened speaks for the Jabbuk, but has limited decision making power and will defer to the Jabbuk in the following situations.

Declaration of war.
Dismissal of a member.
Acceptance of a candidate.
A campaign of vengeance.
Disobeying direct orders from Blackened will result in review of the situation by the Jabbuk and the other officers. It is not grounds for dismissal. Blackened is subordinate to both the Jabbuk and Silvaria. Her role is service to the Jabbuk and not leader.

Myriad and Darkken Rabbi: Though these two rarely play, they are and will remain officers of BDA in GL. Their contributions over the years are far too extensive to list here. The castle in Trammel was placed by Rabbi, an effort that took approximately 6 hours of real time to get. That is just one example. They contribute to application decisions, and voice their opinion on situations as they wish. If they make an appearance in game, their power extends beyond Blackened’s. Disobedience to their orders will result in a review of the situation by the officers and the Jabbuk.

Skorp: Missing in action, but also a founding member. Disobedience will result in a review by the officers and the Jabbuk if Skorp makes an appearance in game. He has not in months, and has not participated in application evaluation in a long time either. It is generally assumed he has left the game entirely, and BDA as well. His status as a founding member cannot be relinquished.

Ivan/Ulthengaul. Another founding member with no official title in UO, he is the leader of the coming SB BDA merged guild. He is gm of that guild, but holds no rank in UO. His history with the guild commands respect.

Cah Mi Cinel. High priestess. She is responsible for conducting trials and other ceremonies.

Dealing with other players.

Blue Players: Attacks on blue players are actions ordered by Caleb. In the event we are hired to conduct an assassination, those choosing not to take a count should still attend if possible to facilitate the hit. Whether that involves trapping, healing, or providing transportation or other resources needed to complete the mission. In the event blues are interfering with our activities, it is the Jabbuk’s command that will incur counts on our players. If members choose to take matters into their own hands, they take on all of the consequences and cannot expect the guild to assist them.

Grey players: If these players are grey from actions against anyone in BDA, the offender should be killed and looted. At no time should any pursuit compromise the guild at any time. If a BDA member goes grey, that member has endangered the guild as a whole and is on their own for survival. Too many times in the past, we have healed or hid a grey only to turn grey ourselves and suffer losses. Accidental greyness from looting happens to just about everyone, and in that circumstance the guildmembers choosing to hide the member who is grey are responsible for their own survival as well. Entire parties of BDA have been killed and looted as a result of one person going grey.

Red players: These are not kill on sight. If a red attacks any BDA, then the response is killing the red and looting them. If they leave us alone, we leave them alone. We are neutral and besides, a human murdering other humans does our will any way. If there is a red member of BDA, they also realize they chose this type of gameplay. The guild cannot be expected to guarantee the safety of our reds at all times or to retrieve their things if they get killed. If there are reds among us, they are to be transported by ghosting. If they are stat loss, they choose how they wish to play. Pking by BDA members is neither encouraged or discouraged, play how you like when you are not involved with the guild.

Orange players: BDA is at war with various guilds at various times with specific terms of engagement with each guild. Orange players are NOT to be attacked unless it is during a preplanned event. An exception to this is a mutually agreed upon duel between friendly members of opposing guilds. We do not attack the players of other guilds in dungeons, in town, or out in the wilderness. Our battles with other guilds are always planned events. In the event an incident occurs where an orange attacks BDA in a non sanctioned way, the offender should be killed, but not looted. This is almost always a communication mix up, and not a grief attempt at harming BDA. Interaction with oranges should be in character as much as possible. The only exception to this is the Bloodrock Clan aka Urk. They are roleplayers playing orcs. Their rp is clearly and thoroughly explained on their webpage which can be found at the www.uo.com webpages under guilds. Travelling anywhere near their fort will result in an attack by them. They are orcs and hate humans and elves. Our history with them is long an we have done events and quests with them. Overall, they are good people and great roleplayers. They do not fight fair, and will trash talk you in orcish. They will not loot you usually, but if you res and re-attack, and die again, they will loot your weapons and bandages or regs, to prevent you from attacking again. Attacking them at their fort and losing means you gather your things and leave. They will reskill you if you speak disrespectfully to them after dying. Their fort is located in a hot spot of war guild activity, so expect the possibility of being looted by passerby. In staged wars in the past they have abided by our rules, and in general are cool people.

Loot: Division of loot is done equitably by all those present. This has never been an issue, we share the loot fairly. If a map is done that belongs to you, the contents are yours to do with as you please, the spawn loot is to be divided. Typically, all of it is mixed together, but that is up to the map owner.

Other Behavior: Any member is free to post on any message board they wish, however, it is expected that they will conduct themselves in a manner that will not reflect poorly on BDA: Hacking, exploits, bugs, violations of OSI TOS.

Since the entire guild can potentially be held liable for actions taken by one member, any instance of the above is grounds for dismissal. This behavior is not acceptable ever. If you are unsure if an action is a hack, bug or exploit, the board or ICQ is a great way to find out. What players do on their own time with their other chars is their business, however, members of BDA are prohibited from these activities.

Terms of RP War

Prearranged, secluded area.
No looting, unless there is a danger of decay. Then of course return the items looted.
No reskilling. Accidents will happen of course.
NO TRASHTALKING! Unless you do it as a drow, and even then keep in mind the sensitivities of those we do not know so well. Kewl dewd speak is not cool. We respect the people that contribute to our enjoyment of the game, and honor them by not rubbing it in if we defeat them.
No dragons or mounts of any kind may be used offensively.

Trial for Initiation

All wanres seeking full membership in BDA must go through the Trials. The first portion is the Trial of the Elements, the second portion are the challenges.

Trial of the elements must be successfully done or full membership is postponed. During this portion, the wanre may use up to 3 potions of any kind per elemental series. They may only use gm crafted weapons and armor.

At no time can the wanre leave the battle area, hide, recall, gate, etc.

During the challenges, any weapons or armor can be used.

The wanre will face at least 3 challenges from current members. It is up to the presiding officer or Jabbuk to determine if more challenges will be allowed.
